The Burkehaven
Lodge
was built on the footprint of the old Burkehaven Hotel. The Burkehaven Hotel was one of the Grand Old Hotels on
Lake Sunapee, popular in the early 1900's when people would come up to Lake Sunapee on the train and then take
one of the steamboats to the landing of the particular hotel they were staying at. The steamboat would drop guests off at Burkehaven Cove where they would be met and brought up to the Hotel. The Burkehaven was popular for its' views of Mount Sunapee and its' peacefully tranquil setting.
The Grand Old Hotels are just a
memory.
The Raps family
would like to bring back the old traditions of a
true family "Lake Sunapee vacation"
